Carter has spent 15 years configuring and managing a wide variety of Cisco network equipment including entry level switches and firewalls like that ASA5515 all the way up to 6500 and 7600 series routers with 720Gbps backplane and multiple 10G links using BGP to provide multi-homed Internet connectivity to ensure maximum uptime and service availability.
has comes to Sound Enterprises with a wealth of I.T. and operations experience. As Vice President of Operations at ClipZone Ventures, LLC, a private startup he co-founded in 2009, Carter was responsible for the infrastructure build-out and ongoing support and maintenance of an environment which processes more than 100K coupons a day for digital distribution via the ClipZone mobile application.
Before ClipZone, he was Director of Information Technology during an 11 year tenure at Message Technologies (MTI). MTI is a premier VXML hosting company, providing speech-enabled IVR services to millions of callers with monthly traffic in excess of 6M minutes. Carter’s primary responsibilities included management and complete oversight of their 24x7x365 NOC as well as two data centers in Atlanta, GA and another collocated data center at the Infomart in Dallas, TX used for DR/BC.
Through Carter’s experience over the years he has developed a deep knowledge and understanding of many technologies, ranging from traditional TDM and PSTN telecommunications to VoIP PBXs; operating systems from Solaris, Linux, and Novell to the full range of Windows operating systems including desktop, server, and mobile versions; and secure networks and routing using Cisco, Juniper, Nortel, F5, and Barracuda switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
Beyond his prior I.T. experience, he also brings to the company his strengths, some of which include a love for his work, a keen focus on cost containment and reduction, helping clients get the best value out of every dollar in the I.T. budget, shrewd troubleshooting skills, and an exceptional affinity for improving processes and workflow. Throughout everything, Carter makes a point to thoroughly document processes, workflow, and projects to ensure knowledge is captured and can be shared and passed on as clients’ staffing needs change and teams grow or are cut back to remain lean and competitive.
In his spare time, Carter enjoys spending time with his wife, actively participating in the scouting program with his three sons, and working on his 1973 Pontiac Catalina, “Betty”.
